The Cordillera de los Picachos National Park spans 287,493 hectares where the Andes, Amazon, and Orinoco regions intersect, containing páramos, Andean forests, and rainforests.
Established on May 2, 1977, this national park was Colombia's first peasant reserve, originally inhabited by the Choques indigenous people of the Tukano linguistic family.
The rivers Guayabero and Caguán shape the daily life of local communities, serving as essential transportation routes and water sources throughout the Pato-Guayabero region.
Access requires a five-hour drive from Neiva followed by six hours on unpaved roads to reach Hacienda Andalucía, with administrative offices located in Neiva and San Vicente del Caguán.
The park receives up to 5,000 millimeters of rainfall annually, creating waterfalls reaching heights of 300 meters and supporting 881 animal species.
