Ricaurte, Cundinamarca

Ricaurte extends over 128.3 square kilometers at 284 meters above sea level, featuring 16 distinct rural subdivisions called Veredas and an urban center.

The territory began as Peñalisa District in 1857, later changed its name to Ricaurte, merged with Girardot in 1937, and regained municipal status in 1968.

The municipality maintains regular market days on Thursdays and Sundays, where local farmers and merchants gather to sell agricultural products and goods.

Located 142 kilometers from Bogotá, Ricaurte maintains a median temperature of 27°C and contains both urban areas covering 13.5 square kilometers and rural territories.

The municipality contains specialized subdivisions including Callejón, Cumaca, El Portal, La Tetilla, and Llano del Pozo, each contributing to local governance.
