Estadio Metropolitano de Techo, multi-use stadium in Bogotá, Colombia
The Estadio Metropolitano de Techo is a sports venue in Bogotá featuring a large playing field surrounded by concrete stands with functional plastic seats. The facility has a straightforward layout with multiple entrances and holds approximately 8,000 spectators, with the pitch measuring around 100 meters long and nearly 70 meters wide.
The site was originally a horse racing track near the former Techo airport before being converted into a football venue. In 1994 it hosted a major South American U-23 football tournament where Colombia defeated Uruguay in the final.
The venue serves as a gathering place for football fans from the neighborhood, where locals and families come together to share their passion for the sport. It fosters connections between spectators and their teams, making it a central part of community life in the Kennedy area.
The venue is easily accessible by public transportation with buses and taxis frequently serving the area, and arriving early on match days is recommended. Visitors should come before the game starts to secure good seats and avoid crowds, taking advantage of the multiple entrances available.
After a renovation, the stadium became one of the first projects of its kind in the Kennedy neighborhood and has evolved into the city's third most important sports facility. Its proximity to the former airport zone gives the place a special historical connection to Bogotá's transport history.
