Tlaqná, Concert hall and cultural center in Xalapa Municipality, Mexico
Tlaqná is a music and cultural center in Xalapa with specialized performance spaces. The main auditorium was designed with acoustic optimization in mind and accommodates over one thousand attendees.
The center opened in 2013 after construction that began in 2007 under Universidad Veracruzana supervision. This new facility was created as important cultural infrastructure for the city.
The center hosts the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra and presents classical music performances along with various artistic events throughout the year. Visitors encounter a diverse program bringing together local and international artists.
The building is divided into different areas including a main hall, annex room, mezzanine, and outdoor forums. Visitors should allow enough time before performances to arrive and orient themselves within the complex.
A mural titled 'Bosque de niebla' by Hiroyuki Okumura adorns the building with thousands of concrete plates. This artistic installation also serves a practical function for the acoustic design.
