English Caye Light

English Caye Light is a lighthouse on English Caye off the coast of Belize District. The structure features a white lantern mounted on a square pyramidal steel framework tower rising approximately 19 meters.

The lighthouse was built in 1846 and was among the first navigation aids in Belize's Caribbean waters. This metal structure with its 19th-century design has served as a reliable guide for maritime traffic across generations.

The lighthouse remains a central component of maritime heritage in Belize, guiding vessels through the Caribbean waters for over 175 years.

The lighthouse is powered by solar panels and emits white light signals every 2.5 seconds. These signals are visible from up to 20 kilometers across the water, helping ships navigate safely in the surrounding waters.

This structure blends 19th-century architecture seamlessly with modern solar technology. This combination allows the lighthouse to operate completely independently while preserving its original exterior design from decades past.
