Bliss Institute, Cultural center and performing arts venue in Belize City, Belize

The Bliss Institute is a theatre, museum and national arts council building in the cultural centre of Belize City. Built in a modernist international style, it was designed with a library, an auditorium, an exhibition area and reading rooms. The gallery for the auditorium resembles the prow of a ship.

The Bliss Institute was built between 1953 and 1954 in a modernist international style, funded by the Baron Bliss trusteeship with $251,829 for construction and $7,532 for furniture. It was almost entirely refurbished in 2003 by a Mexican construction company and became the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts, housing the headquarters of the Institute of Creative Arts.
