Teatro Peón Contreras

Teatro Peón Contreras is an opera house in Mérida with Italian-style stage design, wooden flooring, and 837 seats arranged across multiple levels. It contains ten dressing rooms, props storage, rehearsal spaces, and modern lighting and sound systems.

The theater opened in 1908 under the design of architects Pío Piacentini, Enroco Deserti, and Fernando Ceicola. Its establishment marked an important phase of cultural development for the city during the early 20th century.
