KBR Tower is a 40-story, 550-foot (167.6 m) skyscraper at Cullen Center in Downtown Houston. Neuhaus & Taylor designed it, Linbeck Construction Company was the general contractor, and Ellisor Engineering, Inc. served as structural engineer. It provides about 1,047,748 square feet of rentable office space and houses the headquarters of KBR, Inc.
The building was completed in 1973 and originally carried the name M.W. Kellogg Tower before changing names in 1991 following corporate transitions. The name shift reflected changes in the companies occupying the space during that period.
The building represents the corporate expansion of Houston during the 1970s, when numerous energy companies established their presence in the downtown district.
The building offers office space in the heart of Downtown Houston near other major business buildings. It is accessible by public transportation and situated within the main business district.
The tower's name comes from KBR, Inc., the engineering, procurement and construction firm headquartered inside it; the building was earlier called the M. W. Kellogg Tower. In 2009 Brookfield Properties offered office suites of 1,200 to 2,000 square feet there to small businesses and laid-off individuals starting their own firms.
