Town Lake Gazebo, Modernist gazebo at Lady Bird Lake, Travis County, United States
Town Lake Gazebo is an octagonal open-sided pavilion on the southern shore of Town Lake in Austin, Travis County, Texas. It has eight columns supporting a curved roof, with concrete seating inside and a direct view of the water.
The gazebo was built in 1969 as the first public structure on the southern shore of Town Lake. Its construction marked the start of a broader effort to open that stretch of waterfront to public use.
The gazebo sits within Waterloo Park and draws people who want to pause along the lakefront path and watch the water. It is a natural stopping point where visitors and locals alike tend to slow down and take a moment.
The gazebo is easy to reach on foot from the lakeside path inside Waterloo Park. The covered seating offers a shaded spot, which can be welcome during the hotter parts of the day in summer.
The roof was deliberately shaped to resemble an upside-down morning glory flower. This becomes easier to notice when you step back and look at the outline of the structure against the sky.
