Fair Park, Former Formula 1 circuit in Fair Park, Dallas, United States.
Fair Park is a former racing circuit in Dallas that ran through public roads and parking areas within a large fairground. The 3.9-kilometer track formed a complex layout with 23 turns between pavilions, halls, and open spaces.
The grounds were converted into a temporary racing circuit in 1984 to host the only Formula 1 Grand Prix in Dallas, where Keke Rosberg from Finland won for Williams. After the race the site returned to hosting fairs and recreational events.
The racing circuit used a large fairground that has drawn millions to the Texas State Fair for decades and serves as a social hub for regional festivals. During races the Art Deco buildings and wide park paths remained visible to spectators, forming an uncommon backdrop for motorsport.
The grounds are accessible through several public entrances and sit in a Dallas neighborhood reachable by car or public transit. Visitors can explore the preserved park paths and open areas where the temporary racing circuit once ran.
During the race weekend asphalt broke away from the track in large chunks under temperatures above 120 degrees Fahrenheit (48 degrees Celsius), forcing organizers to carry out emergency repairs. These conditions helped ensure that Formula 1 never returned to Dallas.
