Grand Lodge of the Colored Knights of Pythias
Grand Lodge of the Colored Knights of Pythias, Fraternal organization building in Deep Ellum, Dallas, United States.
The four-story red brick building displays Beaux-Arts architecture with neoclassical elements, featuring a grand entrance and symmetrical facade design.
William Sidney Pittman, an African American architect, designed this structure in 1916 as the state headquarters for the Grand Lodge of Texas Knights of Pythias.
The fourth floor ballroom hosted numerous performances and lectures by notable figures, including the Fisk Jubilee Singers and Marcus Garvey.
The first floor contained retail spaces while the second floor provided offices for African American professionals, including physicians and insurance companies.
