The Estadio Universidad San Marcos spans 48,782 square meters and features an eight-lane athletics track surrounding the main football field.
The stadium opened its doors on May 13, 1951, marking the 400th anniversary of the National University of San Marcos with a match between Sport Boys and Palmeiras.
The construction process revealed 1,500-year-old archaeological walls, leading to new foundations being built to preserve the historical remains beneath the structure.
The stadium currently maintains a capacity of 32,000 spectators, with access points from both Venezuela Avenue and Amezaga Avenue in central Lima.
The western platform of the stadium stands directly above Huaca Concha, an ancient archaeological site that connects Peru's modern sports culture with its pre-Hispanic past.
