Huaca Huantille

Huaca Huantille is an archaeological site with stepped pyramids and ceremonial spaces that covers four hectares within an urban district of Lima. The complex features multiple levels and courtyards connected by a grand staircase.

The site developed during the Ychsma culture period and was inhabited between the 10th and 15th centuries. Archaeological work in the 1940s uncovered burials and objects that reveal details about how people lived at that time.

The site served as an administrative and ceremonial center where the Ychsma people gathered for important gatherings and rituals. Visitors can see how the layout of the structures reflects the way the community organized itself and conducted daily affairs.

The site is located within a residential neighborhood and can be explored on foot, allowing you to discover its different levels and spaces at your own pace. Wear comfortable shoes as the pathways and stairs can be uneven in places.

The site was occupied by local residents for many years until the municipality reclaimed the land in 2006 and opened it to the public. This transformation allowed researchers to fully investigate and protect the site's history.
