Huancayo Province

The province spans 3,558 square kilometers across Peru's central highlands, containing 28 districts and bordered by the Mantaro River and mountain ranges.

The territory was originally inhabited by the Huanca people, who formed alliances with Spanish conquistadors during the conquest of the Inca Empire in 1534.

The Sunday markets in Huancayo city gather merchants from surrounding villages, displaying traditional Andean products, textiles, and agricultural goods.

The provincial capital, Huancayo city, connects to Lima through railways and highways, functioning as a major commercial center at 3,249 meters elevation.

The region contains three notable mountain lakes - Aqchiqucha, Hatunqucha, and Quylluqucha - surrounded by peaks of the Chunta and Waytapallana ranges.
