Torre Torre

Torre Torre is a sandstone cliff formation near Huancayo composed of vertical columns of friable stone rising from the mountainous terrain. The rock layers display columnar structures shaped by natural weathering processes.

The formations developed over millions of years through erosion and sedimentation in the Peruvian Andes. Water and wind continuously shaped the sandstone layers, gradually creating the columnar patterns visible today.

The rock formations are part of how local residents perceive and move through the mountain landscape, appearing in everyday conversation about the region.
