Huamalíes Province encompasses 3,144 square kilometers of territory featuring mountainous landscapes, including peaks such as Artisa Ukru and Kuntur Wank'a.

The province developed from pre-Columbian settlements, maintaining numerous archaeological sites like Anku and Awila Qhincha Mach'ay as testimonies of ancient civilizations.

In this region, 53 percent of residents speak Quechua as their primary language, reflecting the strong indigenous heritage present throughout the province.
