Amber Cove, a cruise terminal in Puerto Plata Province in the Dominican Republic
Amber Cove is a cruise terminal in Puerto Plata that opened in 2015 and can accommodate two ships at once. The facility spans about 25 acres and includes shops, restaurants, activity zones, an aquapark with pools, water slides, and zip-lining options.
The terminal was built by Carnival Corporation in 2015 with an investment of about 85 million dollars. It replaced earlier port facilities and transformed Puerto Plata into a major cruise destination for the Dominican Republic.
The port reflects the hospitality of the North Coast, where locals work in tourism and fishing industries. Its architecture blends Victorian, Colonial, and Spanish fort styles, creating a space that feels rooted in local heritage and traditions.
Taxis are available directly at the terminal and can be rented for day trips to nearby attractions like Playa Dorada and Sosúa. Wi-Fi is available throughout the complex but costs around 8 dollars per day for faster connections.
A distinctive feature is Bar360 perched on a hill with panoramic views of the port and surrounding hills, where visitors can photograph the surroundings or simply enjoy the scenery. The zip-lining course on the same hill offers thrills as you soar over pools and the port below.
