Patrick Space Force Base, Air force base in Brevard County, Florida, US
Patrick Space Force Base is a military installation in Brevard County between Satellite Beach and Cocoa Beach that coordinates space operations. Space Launch Delta 45 manages the Eastern Range here and supports rocket launches along the Atlantic coast of Florida.
The facility began in 1940 as Naval Air Station Banana River on the Florida coast and expanded after World War II. It transferred to the Air Force in 1948 and came under control of the newly formed Space Force in 2020.
The Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute on the base trains military personnel in equal opportunity matters and promotes engagement with cultural diversity. The programs serve soldiers from all branches of the armed forces and work with interactive methods.
The installation offers housing buildings, medical services, and dining facilities for more than ten thousand military members, civilians, and contractors. Access is restricted to military personnel and authorized visitors, as it is not a civilian tourist site.
The Air Force Technical Applications Center on the grounds monitors compliance with international nuclear weapons treaties using hydroacoustic and seismic sensors. These systems detect underground nuclear tests and nuclear incidents worldwide in real time.
