Osteen Bridge, Road bridge in Indian Mound Village, Florida, US.
The Osteen Bridge is a road bridge crossing the St. Johns River in Florida, connecting Volusia County and Seminole County. The structure has four lanes and provides a modern passage for daily traffic between these regions.
An earlier bridge from the 1920s once stood at this location, featuring a hand-operated swing mechanism and narrow 14-foot width. The current modern bridge was completed in 1977 to replace that outdated and structurally limited structure.
The structure received its name in 1978 to honor Florida State Senator Douglas Stenstrom, who supported the bridge construction project.
Visitors can use the bridge to travel between the two counties, especially when heading to Orlando Sanford International Airport. The crossing is accessible year-round and should be factored in during peak traffic times.
Sections of the old swing bridge from that era still remain on-site and have been converted into a fishing pier. This pier gives anglers and visitors a place to experience the St. Johns River up close.
