AmericasMart, Wholesale market in Atlanta, Georgia, US
AmericasMart is a convention center in Atlanta housing over 300 showrooms open year-round. The facility displays products ranging from gifts and home furnishings to rugs, tableware, outdoor furniture, and apparel, bringing together buyers and sellers for business transactions.
Local architect John C. Portman designed the mart, which opened in 1957 as the Atlanta Market Center; Portman served as chairman, chief executive officer and a director. Jeffrey Portman was president of AMC, Inc. from 1994 to 2018 and renamed the center AmericasMart in 1996. In 2018 it merged with ANDMORE, formerly International Market Centers.
AmericasMart is not open to the public: only employees and guests of registered businesses are admitted, and buyers must register their business and check in on arrival. A business that stops visiting with the required regularity forfeits its membership. Buildings One, Two and Three are linked by pedestrian bridges, so access between them stays indoors; Building One is at 240 Peachtree Street NW, Buildings Two and Three on Ted Turner Drive.
The space offers flexible rental options for both single markets and longer-term commitments, making it accessible to both new and established businesses. This approach allows a range of sellers to display their products without requiring long-term contracts.
