Masonic Temple, Historical Masonic building in Downtown Atlanta, United States.
The six-story Masonic Temple stood at the intersection of Peachtree Street and Cain Street, measuring 83 feet in height with classical architectural elements.
Built in 1909 by architect John Robert Dillon, the Masonic Temple served as a central meeting place until a devastating fire destroyed it in 1950.
The temple functioned as headquarters for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference during the 1960s civil rights movement under Martin Luther King Jr's leadership.
The former temple location at 330 Auburn Avenue NE now belongs to the Martin Luther King Jr National Historical Park, offering guided tours and exhibitions.
The building witnessed numerous gatherings of civil rights leaders, including Ella Baker and Andrew Young, who worked to advance social justice initiatives.
