Twisted Cyclone, Steel and wood roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell, United States
The Twisted Cyclone combines traditional wooden supports with steel tracks, reaching heights of approximately 100 feet (30 meters) and speeds of about 57 mph (92 km/h). The ride lasts roughly 80 seconds and includes ten airtime hills and three inversions.
The original Georgia Cyclone opened in 1990 and was a beloved attraction at the park for many years. In 2018, it underwent complete reconstruction when Rocky Mountain Construction installed their I-Box track technology, transforming it into the current version.
The name references the famous Cyclone in Coney Island, New York, because the original Georgia Cyclone was intentionally built as its mirror image. Visitors can see this historical connection reflected in how the ride is designed.
Riders must meet specific height requirements to participate safely. It is wise to secure loose items and prepare for an intense experience, as the speed and inversions are physically demanding.
The ride features a convertible-style train design from the 1960s that makes the experience feel particularly open and immediate. The initial drop at approximately 75 degrees creates an especially intense adrenaline rush right at the start.
