Six Flags Over Georgia, Theme park in Cobb County, United States
Six Flags Over Georgia is a theme park along the Chattahoochee River in Cobb County, spreading coasters, water attractions, and entertainment zones across a large site. The grounds divide into separate themed sections, each grouping different rides and dining stops together.
The park opened in 1967 as the second site in the chain developed by Angus G. Wynne, who had built a similar park in Texas earlier. The site grew over several decades with new attractions and expanded areas added gradually.
Warner Bros characters appear throughout the park, shaping the design of many attractions and meeting visitors regularly in themed areas. The use of comic book and cartoon figures gives the park a playful tone that appeals especially to younger guests.
The park follows a seasonal schedule, with operating hours changing throughout the year. Lockers, stroller rental, and numerous restaurants and food stands are available across the grounds.
The Riverview Carousel was relocated from Chicago in 1972 and ranks among the oldest operating carousels in North America. It holds national landmark status and preserves its original wooden craftsmanship from an earlier era.
