Robert Mable House and Cemetery, historic house in Georgia, United States
The Robert Mable House is a historic residence built in 1843 with an adjacent cemetery in Mableton, Georgia. The building features a simple rural style with large windows and wide porches typical of farmhouses from that era.
Robert Mable came from Scotland and Savannah, obtaining the land through the Georgia Gold Land Lottery in 1832. The house was built in 1843, and by 1860 his property had grown to about 600 acres where he farmed and operated a sawmill.
The cemetery beside the house shows the Mable family story across several generations in one place. Visitors can see from outside how the family remained connected to this land over time.
The property is easy to find on Floyd Road with parking available nearby. The cemetery is visible from outside the fence, though the gate remains locked to visitors.
The cemetery includes burials of enslaved people who lived and worked on the Mable estate. Only three names are confirmed - Celia, Thack, and Suck - whose simple gravestones are part of this important history.
