The Marines' Memorial Club occupies a twelve-story Beaux-Arts building at 609 Sutter Street, featuring 138 guest rooms and a rooftop restaurant.
General Alexander Vandegrift established the club in 1946 as the first living memorial in the United States to honor Marines who died in World War II.
The 564-seat theater within the club has hosted performances by Bob Hope, Jack Benny, and Frank Sinatra, serving as a center for performing arts.
The club provides accommodations, dining facilities, and event spaces for military veterans from all branches of service and their family members.
The building contains a military history museum with artifacts donated by veterans, including the ship's bell from the USS San Francisco.
