WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Motor racing circuit in Monterey County, United States.
WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is a motorsport racing track in Monterey County that winds 2.2 miles (3.6 kilometers) through rolling hills with eleven turns carved into the California landscape. The circuit runs through grassland and low hills, with grandstands and viewing areas positioned along the key corners.
The facility opened in 1957 on former ranch land after concerns about public safety ended the street races held in Pebble Beach. Since then, the circuit has hosted numerous national and international competitions and has been modified several times to meet changing safety standards.
Racing fans gather along the hillsides and grandstands year-round to watch professional and amateur competitions unfold across the circuit. The roar of engines and the energy of the crowds define the experience on race days, when thousands arrive to witness cars navigate the turns.
The grounds are open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, and visitors can explore the complex even when no races are scheduled. Walking trails, camping spots, and spaces for recreational vehicles are available in the recreation area surrounding the circuit.
The turn known as the Corkscrew drops roughly 59 feet (18 meters) over a distance of about 450 feet (137 meters), making it one of the most technically demanding sections on any circuit worldwide. Drivers often lose sight of the track momentarily when entering the turn because the slope is so steep.
