Bohemia Mountain is a summit in the Cascade Range of Oregon, rising to roughly 6,000 feet and surrounded by dense forest cover. The slopes are crisscrossed with established trails that wind through varied woodland terrain.
The peak took its name from James Johnson, a Czech immigrant who discovered gold deposits in the surrounding region during the 1860s. These findings led to the establishment of a mining district that drew settlement to the area.
The mountain and its surrounding forest lands serve as a central point for outdoor recreation, drawing hikers and nature observers throughout the seasons.
Access to the mountain is via established trails in Umpqua National Forest, with the best hiking window occurring from late June through August. During these months, trails are generally snow-free and weather conditions tend to be more favorable.
On clear days, certain viewpoints near the summit offer views of distant Cascade peaks including Mount Shasta and Mount Hood far away. These far-reaching vistas of snow-covered volcanic summits create a memorable perspective for those who reach the top.
