La Pine State Park spans 2,400 acres of high desert subalpine forest with 14 miles of trails following both sides of the Deschutes River.
The park land was obtained through multiple acquisitions between 1966 and 1981 from the Bureau of Land Management, private owners, and U.S. Forest Service.
The park connects visitors to traditional outdoor activities including fishing, mountain biking, hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing throughout different seasons.
The camping facilities include 82 full-hookup sites, 47 electrical sites with water, and 5 rustic log cabins available for reservation up to 6 months ahead.
The Big Tree Day-use Area contains Oregon's largest ponderosa pine, measuring 162 feet in height and estimated to be over 500 years old.
