Belltown

Belltown is a neighborhood in Seattle characterized by mixed development with modern high-rises and older buildings side by side. Along its streets, numerous restaurants, art galleries, bars, and entertainment venues create the area's distinct rhythm.

The neighborhood began in the late 1800s as an industrial area with factories and warehouses. Over the following century, it gradually transformed into a mixed residential and commercial district.

The neighborhood hosts artist studios and galleries where creative professionals display and sell their work alongside independent shops. This blend of established retailers and small creative workshops shapes the everyday character of the streets.

The neighborhood is easy to explore on foot and offers multiple bus stops and a light rail station nearby. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since the streets are hilly, and late afternoon is the best time to stroll through the area.

The Olympic Sculpture Park spans nine acres with contemporary art installations overlooking the bay, built on the site of a former industrial area. This public art space offers free access to works by well-known artists and draws visitors who might not otherwise seek out galleries.
