Escala is a 38-storey luxury apartment building in downtown Seattle, 100.6 metres tall, with eight of its floors below ground. Built of reinforced concrete and glass in the postmodern style, it holds 269 or 274 residences and rises above Fourth Avenue.

Construction of Escala began in 2006 and was completed in 2009. The 38-storey tower, built in postmodern style from reinforced concrete and glass, was developed as a luxury condominium building in downtown Seattle.

Escala's penthouse was modelled on the apartment of Christian Grey in E. L. James's Fifty Shades of Grey and sold for 5.95 million US dollars. It covers 587 m² but, unlike the fictional billionaire's flat, it has no secret "Red Room of Pain" and no rooftop helipad.

Visitors can admire the building's architecture and design from the outside while exploring the surrounding Belltown neighborhood with its nearby shops and restaurants. The location on Fourth Avenue makes it easy to find, and the building is accessible by the city's public transportation options.
