Doppler, also called Amazon Tower I, is a 37-story, 160 m (524 ft) office tower at Westlake Avenue and 7th Avenue in Seattle's Denny Triangle. Its dark blue-grey glass curtain wall is gridded by thin mullions, with red and orange accent strips across the upper facade; a lower attached block in offset light and dark grey panels projects at the front.
The site was once planned for a 31-story mixed-use tower called Seventh at Westlake Tower, but those plans were shelved for four years and cancelled in 2012. Designed by NBBJ, the tower was approved in late 2012, excavated by Sellen Construction from June 2013, topped out in February 2015 and opened on December 14, 2015.
The tower's name comes from the internal codename of the Amazon Echo voice-controlled speaker, launched in 2014. Its facade uses dichroic glass that reflects light in varying colours depending on the time of day.
The tower stands at Westlake Avenue and 7th Avenue in the Denny Triangle, near Westlake Center and McGraw Square. Ground-level retail spaces, including a Starbucks and several restaurants, face the surrounding streets. The building is part of a three-tower campus with six floors of underground parking.
