Cirrus, Residential skyscraper in Denny Triangle, Seattle, US
Cirrus is a 41-story residential skyscraper rising 440 feet (130 m) at the intersection of Westlake Avenue, 8th Avenue and Lenora Street in Seattle's Denny Triangle. Named after the cirrus cloud, it was designed by architects Weber Thompson and reconfigured from condominiums to smaller rental apartments for GID Development.
Construction began in May 2013 and was completed by October 2015, marking a shift in the city's residential building approach. This project introduced a rental-focused model rather than focusing solely on privately-owned units.
Cirrus takes its name from the cirrus cloud, a wispy high-altitude formation, and its companion tower across Lenora Street is called Stratus, after the low layered cloud. The pairing ties the two GID Development buildings to the sky above the Denny Triangle.
The building sits in the Denny Triangle area and is easy to reach via public transit and nearby local shops and services. Keep in mind that this is a private residential building, so access to the interior is typically restricted to residents and authorized guests.
This tower is paired with its neighboring building Stratus across Lenora Street as part of a coordinated development project. Together, the two structures create a cohesive modern residential complex.
