Milwaukee Ski Bowl, Ski resort in Hyak, Washington, US
Milwaukee Ski Bowl is a ski resort located on the eastern side of Snoqualmie Pass in the Cascade Range. It featured multiple slopes and terrain for downhill skiing and other winter activities.
Railroad executives established this ski area in 1937 with a substantial lodge near the Snoqualmie Tunnel. After a fire destroyed the main building in 1949, the resort continued operating from modified railroad cars.
The ski area welcomed school groups and young people from nearby cities to learn winter sports together. This made skiing accessible to students who might not have had other chances to visit the mountains.
The location is accessible from surrounding areas when mountain roads are clear during the winter season. Visitors should prepare for cold weather and steep mountain conditions typical of this elevation.
A major ski jump was built here in 1941 and later hosted Olympic trials for the 1948 Winter Games. This facility became an important venue for competitive skiing talent in North America.
