Huckleberry Mountain

Huckleberry Mountain is a summit in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness reaching 6,230 feet with a steep pyramidal shape and rocky exposures throughout. The terrain becomes increasingly technical as climbers approach the top, featuring scrambling sections that require hand and foot work.

The mountain was first documented by climbers in 1915 and has since become a popular objective for experienced mountaineers seeking technical challenges. This early ascent established it as a significant peak in the local climbing community.

The mountain draws numerous mountaineers and peak baggers who tackle its technical routes through class 3 and class 4 scrambling sections.

Most visitors approach this peak from the Pacific Crest Trail at Snoqualmie Pass, though the route involves steep and uneven ground. Climbing experience and proper gear are important because several sections demand scrambling skills and careful footing.

The summit ridge contains several bumps and high points, meaning climbers must check each one to confirm they have reached the true highest point. This geographical quirk has caught many visitors off guard who thought they had summited but had only reached one of the false peaks.
