Fountains of Bellagio, Musical fountain display at Las Vegas Strip, United States
The Fountains of Bellagio are a large outdoor water feature set on a lake in front of the Bellagio hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. More than 1,200 water jets and thousands of lights produce patterns and arches that reach up to around 460 feet (140 meters) high, all visible from the sidewalk.
The project was commissioned in 1995 and completed in 1998 to coincide with the opening of the Bellagio resort. It was the first water feature of this scale designed specifically for a casino hotel.
The shows are set to music ranging from classical pieces to pop songs, all visible from the street without entering any building. The water jets move in time with each track, turning the performance into a shared moment for anyone passing by.
Shows run throughout the day and become more frequent in the evening, and entry is free for everyone. The lakeside walkway gives a close view, while the sidewalk along the Strip offers a wider perspective, especially after dark.
Each year, around two tons of coins are collected from the lake, and all the money goes to charity. Most visitors who toss a coin have no idea their contribution reaches local causes in this way.
