Little Jacks Creek Wilderness

Little Jacks Creek Wilderness is a protected wilderness area in Idaho featuring deep canyons carved through basalt plateaus with sagebrush grasslands throughout. Streams and a designated wild river section flow through the landscape, creating different water features across the terrain.

The area gained protected status through federal legislation in 2009, expanding wildland preservation efforts. This designation secured the land from intensive use for future generations.

The Bureau of Land Management maintains this wilderness area where visitors follow traditional Leave No Trace principles to preserve natural landscapes for future generations.

The area is accessible from Grand View via Mud Flat Road, with a driving route leading to various hiking trailheads. The best time to visit is during warmer months when the trails are easily passable.

The river section cuts through canyons with walls rising more than 1,000 feet, forming a striking landscape feature. This deep water system creates a sharp contrast to the drier plateaus surrounding it.
