Metaphor: The Tree of Utah, Abstract sculpture on Interstate 80 in Tooele County, United States.

The 87-foot concrete sculpture features six spheres mounted on a rectangular trunk, covered with natural Utah rocks and minerals.

Swedish artist Karl Momen constructed the sculpture between 1982 and 1986, using 225 tons of cement and 2000 ceramic tiles.

The trunk displays text from Friedrich Schiller's Ode to Joy, connecting the sculpture to Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.

Despite its location along Interstate 80, the sculpture lacks designated parking areas and official viewing spots for safety reasons.

Several large spherical segments rest on the ground near the base, representing fallen leaves from this artificial tree in the salt desert.
