Regional Natural Park of the Ardennes, Regional natural park in northern Ardennes, France

The natural park spans 117,000 hectares across multiple municipalities, featuring steep cliffs, wooded valleys, peat moors, and gentle bocage landscapes along the Belgian border.

Established in December 2011, the park preserves the ancient Arduenn Sylva forest region, which has shaped the character of the Ardennes for over 500 million years.

The natural landscapes of the park inspired notable French writers including Arthur Rimbaud, Paul Verlaine, and Georges Sand through their literary works.

Visitors can explore 1,000 kilometers of hiking paths, 450 kilometers of mountain biking trails, and 100 kilometers of cycling routes throughout the park.

The park contains seven Natura 2000 reserves and two national reserves that protect specific species like European beavers, black storks, and royal osmonde plants.
