Arizona's 1st congressional district, Congressional district in northeastern Maricopa County, United States
Arizona's 1st congressional district covers the northeastern portion of Maricopa County and includes municipalities such as Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, Carefree, and Fountain Hills. The area extends from urban centers to residential communities near the Sonoran Desert foothills.
After the 1950 census, this district was created and originally covered all of Maricopa County with Phoenix at its center. Later adjustments reduced its boundaries to the eastern part of the city and neighboring suburbs.
As the wealthiest congressional district in Arizona, it represents a diverse population across urban and suburban communities within the northeastern Phoenix metropolitan area.
Voters can verify their district membership through official government portals and find information about their congressional representative there. Legislative updates and voting records are available on platforms such as GovTrack.
In 2020 this district voted for Joe Biden while electing a Republican to the House two years later. This pattern appears in only 18 districts nationwide.
