新疆巴尔鲁克山国家级自然保护区

Barlock Mountain National Nature Reserve covers valleys, grasslands, and mountain peaks that rise above 3,000 meters across a vast protected area. The landscape includes diverse terrain where forests, alpine meadows, and rocky slopes exist side by side.

The reserve was established in 1980 to protect the natural ecosystems and wildlife habitats of this mountain region. This designation marked a commitment to preserving the area's environmental values for the future.

The Tuva Mongol people live in Heemu Village within the reserve, maintaining customs adapted to this remote mountain landscape. Their semi-buried homes reflect generations of knowledge about surviving in extreme cold climates.

The area is most easily visited from May through September when mountain passes and trails are open for travel. Flying to Urumqi provides the main connection for reaching this remote protected area.

Lake Kanas sits within the reserve at 1,375 meters elevation and impresses visitors with its considerable depth. The large water body creates a striking contrast against the surrounding mountain terrain.
