Eldora Mountain Resort, Ski resort in Boulder County, United States.
Eldora Mountain Resort is a ski area in Boulder County with more than 680 acres of terrain, featuring 53 trails and a 1,240-foot vertical drop. The facility sits at about 10,600 feet elevation and includes a Nordic Center with groomed cross-country skiing trails.
The resort was founded in 1962 after four individuals purchased land from the Forest Service, and the first chairlift, called Little Hawk, began operating in 1967. Under current management by Powdr Corporation, the facility has modernized and added amenities including a terrain park.
The resort hosts events and festivals that draw both local residents and visitors during the winter season. These gatherings create a community atmosphere where people come together to enjoy snow sports.
The resort offers both downhill skiing and cross-country trails with equipment rental and instruction available on-site. Visitors should prepare for varying snow conditions at elevation and choose trails suited to their ability level.
The resort overcame financial difficulties in the 1970s and later transformed into a modern facility with a Woodward terrain park. This turnaround shows how the place evolved from struggling operations into a contemporary winter sports destination.
