RCAF Station Fort Macleod was a Canadian air force base featuring six runways laid out in an overlapping triangular pattern. The facility contained multiple hangars and administrative buildings distributed across the grounds.
The base opened in December 1940 as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Operations as No. 7 Service Flying Training School continued until November 1944, training pilots throughout the period.
World War II buildings remain active in community use today, serving as gathering spaces for local events. These structures connect residents to the site's military past while functioning in everyday civic life.
The grounds now operate as Fort Macleod Airport serving general aviation. A modern 3000-foot runway was constructed across the original triangular airfield layout.
The installation relied on two satellite landing fields at Granum and Standoff to support training operations. Granum featured three hard-surfaced runways while Standoff operated as a large grass triangle.
