Del City, city in Oklahoma, United States

Del City is a city in Oklahoma near Oklahoma City and lies as part of the larger metropolitan area in Oklahoma County. The urban area consists mainly of residential homes with maintained lawns and trees, various parks, schools, and small shops that serve the daily needs of residents.

George Epperly purchased a large tract of land in 1946 and began building homes, after which families quickly moved in. The residents established the city as an officially recognized municipality in 1948, naming it after Epperly's daughter Delaphene.

The city bears the name of Delaphene, the daughter of founder George Epperly, reflecting the personal history behind its development. Neighborhoods show a strong sense of community that appears in regular local events and the everyday interactions between residents who often know each other well.

The city is easily reached via main roads and most residents use cars for shopping, work, and visiting friends throughout the day. There are several parks with walking trails, picnic areas, and sports fields where you can relax and enjoy outdoor activities.

The city hosts the annual Armed Forces Day Parade in May, an event organized by the city and local Shriners organizations that honors troops and brings the community together. Eagle Lake, a body of water within the city, is a popular spot for fishing and relaxing by the water.
