Drillers Stadium, Minor league baseball stadium in Tulsa, United States
Drillers Stadium was a baseball stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma, built on the grounds of the Tulsa State Fairgrounds and able to hold around 11,000 spectators. It had a grass playing field and several seating sections arranged around it.
The stadium opened in 1981 as Robert B. Sutton Stadium and went through several name changes, including Tulsa County Stadium, before taking the name Drillers Stadium in 1989. The baseball team left in 2009, and the site was later torn down in 2019.
The stadium hosted the Bedlam Series, a baseball rivalry between Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma that drew fans from across the state. Watching that game in person was one of the most charged events on the local sports calendar.
The stadium was on the Tulsa State Fairgrounds, at the corner of Yale Avenue and 15th Street, and was straightforward to reach by car. Since the fairgrounds complex holds several buildings and venues, it was worth checking the exact location before arriving.
After baseball left in 2009, the stadium was repurposed for soccer and operated under the name Athletics Stadium for several years before its demolition. Most people remember it as a baseball venue, so this second life is often overlooked.
