Dilmun Burial Mounds

The archaeological complex contains 21 burial fields spread across the western region, featuring over 11,000 circular and oval-shaped burial mounds built with stones and earth.

These burial structures, constructed between 2050 and 1750 BCE, document the Early Dilmun civilization's development during its period as a major trade center.

Excavations of the burial chambers have uncovered numerous artifacts including pottery, jewelry, weapons, and tools that demonstrate the social structure of ancient Dilmun society.

The royal burial mounds feature two-level burial chambers constructed as cylindrical towers, forming distinctive structures that resemble small ziggurats.
