Sibolga, Harbor city in North Sumatra, Indonesia.

The city extends along Sibolga Bay on the western coast of Sumatra, with natural protection from the Indian Ocean by Mursala Island.

The port of Sibolga, established in 1700, functioned as a trading post where British, Dutch, French, and American merchants conducted business transactions.

The city population includes Acehnese, Minangkabau, Batak, Malay, Javanese, Bugis residents, along with communities of Indian, Arab, and Chinese descent.

Ferdinand Lumban Tobing Airport connects Sibolga with major cities, while ferries and boats provide regular transport services to Nias Island.

With a total area of 10.77 square kilometers, Sibolga holds the distinction of being the smallest city by land size in Indonesia.
