Gold Creek Homestead, Colonial homestead in Ngunnawal, Australia
Gold Creek Homestead is a farm complex in Ngunnawal featuring four buildings: a main house, stone cottage, buggy shed, and function center. The site sits on about 41 hectares of land with established gardens.
Edmund Rolfe founded Gold Creek in 1857 after arriving from Norfolk, England, building it into one of the largest rural properties in the Ginninderra district. The family continued expanding their holdings during the economic difficulties of the 1890s.
The stone buildings and gardens show how early settlers lived and farmed in this region. Visitors can still see today how the structures and land were cared for across generations.
The grounds are spacious, so comfortable shoes and plenty of time to explore are recommended. The buildings and gardens can be viewed from different angles, allowing for a relaxed walk around the property.
The stone cottage was planned to become a community space with exhibitions and meeting areas while keeping the original architectural features intact. These plans show a desire to keep the site active while protecting its heritage.
