Gazipur District

Located in central Bangladesh, Gazipur District spans 1806 square kilometers and includes five municipalities, 43 unions, and 1,114 villages within its boundaries.

The district, established in 1984, contains archaeological remains from the Pala Empire period, including Dholsamudra capital and the sixth-century Toke Fort.

The region hosts Bishwa Ijtema, an annual Muslim gathering attracting over 5 million participants, and celebrates traditional festivals like Nabanna and pitha.

Seven railway stations connect the district, which houses multiple educational institutions including Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University.

The district features seventeen rivers, eighty-four canals, twelve dighis, and four hundred thirteen beels, creating an intricate network of waterways.
