The April 2015 Nepal earthquake killed nearly 9,000 people and injured nearly 22,000.
It was the worst natural disaster to strike Nepal since the 1934 Nepal–Bihar earthquake.
The earthquake caused extensive damage to Nepal's rich cultural heritage, particularly in Kathmandu Valley.
After the quake, there were significant relief efforts and offers of aid and reconstruction assistance from around the world.
One major aftereffect of this earthquake was the generation of approximately 100,000 landslides.
