Yangra

Yangra is a mountain peak situated along the Nepal-Tibet border that rises to approximately 7,400 meters. The summit marks a significant geographic boundary between two regions with different political jurisdictions.

The peak saw its first successful ascent in 1955 when an international climbing team reached the summit from the Nepalese side. After this early achievement, the mountain largely faded from mountaineering attention for decades.

Local Sherpa communities regard the peak as spiritually significant within the broader Himalayan landscape. The mountain holds meaning that extends beyond its role as a climbing destination for outsiders.

Climbers need permits from both Nepalese and Chinese authorities because the mountain sits directly on the international border. The remote location and elevation require serious mountaineering experience and proper acclimatization.

Despite being a relatively accessible peak for the Himalaya, the mountain has recorded no successful ascents since 1955. This prolonged gap makes it an unusual case among major high-altitude summits.
